Montana Ruby Reservoir Garnet Paydirt - Discovery Size (Small) Bag- Regular Sift

Can't make the trip to Ruby Reservoir? Let me bring a little bit of the adventure to you!

This garnet-bearing paydirt was personally collected by Prairie Girl Rocks at Ruby Reservoir in Montana. I collected it, screened it, sorted it, and hauled it home—and now you get to do the fun part!

Why is it so affordable?  Well… I came home with a LOT of it! I collected plenty of material during our Ruby Reservoir adventure, and I'd rather turn those buckets into little rockhounding adventures for fellow rockhounds than let them sit around in my shop. The affordable price reflects the amount of material I have available—not a particular grade or guaranteed quality, size, or quantity of garnets. Every bag is natural, self-collected material, and every bag will be different.

Why I offer these bags! Maybe you can't physically make the trip to Ruby Reservoir, or the cost and logistics of traveling just aren't in the cards right now.

Maybe this becomes a quiet afternoon of screening and sorting when you need to get your mind off everything else.   Maybe it's a little rockhound zen at the kitchen table.   Maybe it's something to do with the kids or grandkids. 

Sometimes you just need a bag of dirt, a little time, and something fun to look for.

Each bag includes a small baggie containing a garnet sample collected from Ruby Reservoir.

This sample is there to show you what you're looking for as you work through your paydirt. And don't throw the little baggie away! You can use it to put your own garnet finds in as you go!

The sample is an example—not a guarantee of what your particular bag will produce.

Choose Your Sift

While collecting at Ruby Reservoir, we used several different screening methods, from very coarse screens to much finer screens. We also collected material from different areas along the beach.

Because of that, I'm offering the paydirt in different sift sizes. The sift describes the size of the material in the bag—it does not describe the quality or grade of the garnets.

Regular Sift — Finer material with a smaller overall gravel size.

Chunky Sift — Coarser material containing larger gravel and rock pieces.

Please pay attention to the sift size when ordering. Each type comes from material that was collected and screened differently, so the amount and size of the material in your bag will probably vary.

What Can You Expect to Find?

This is natural, self-collected paydirt, not commercially processed garnet concentrate. Every bag is different.

There is no guarantee of the size, clarity, number, weight, or total carat weight of garnets in any individual bag. Some bags may produce larger garnets, some may produce smaller garnets, and the number of garnets you find will vary.

That's part of the adventure.

You're not buying a guaranteed quantity or quality of garnets. You're buying a chance to sit down, screen some Montana dirt, and see what you can discover.
